Compare VASER® Shape to Other Non-Invasive Treatment Options

VASER Shape isn't the only non-invasive option on the market — but we think it's the best.

On this page, we've made it easy to compare treatments at a glance. Still have questions about VASER Shape? Read our FAQs for answers to the most common questions.

VASER Shape

A non-invasive, non-surgical technique that uses high-frequency (1MHz) ultrasound waves to warm the targeted area and treat the underlying fatty tissue. The ultrasound waves are administered externally through the skin. VASER Shape is used in conjunction with zonal lymphatic massage to drain away excess toxins and fats from the body.

Pro: Can affect tissues from one to five centimeters under the skin. Provides a comfortable, massage-like treatment to shape the body. Temporarily reduces the appearance of cellulite. Only requires three to five treatments for noticeable results.

Con: New technology has not been widely adopted by cosmetic surgeons throughout the U.S.

Other Ultrasound (UltraShape®, LipoSonix®)

The other major ultrasound body shaping systems deliver lower-frequency ultrasound (.2 MHz) to affect surface-level cellulite. These procedures use short, focused, high-intensity pulses to disrupt fat cells.

Pro: Targets specific areas of fat and disrupts fat cells. Only requires three to five treatments for noticeable results.

Con: Can only affect superficial cellulite (.7-1.5 cm below the skin) in relatively small areas. Lacks a lymphatic massage component. Not cleared for use in the United States.

External Laser (VelaShape®, Zerona®, SmoothShapes®)

A non-invasive technique that uses heat generated by laser energy to stimulate collagen in the skin to cause a temporary tightening effect. External laser treatments may include a light therapy component.

Pro: Targets surface-level fat.

Con: This technique typically requires six to ten treatments. Treatments must be administered in short bursts to prevent skin discomfort and damage. Results are unpredictable.

External Radio Frequency (Thermage®, Accent®)

A non-invasive technique that uses heat generated by radio frequency energy to stimulate collagen in the skin to cause a temporary tightening effect.

Pro: Non-invasive skin tightening treatment.

Con: This technique typically requires six to ten treatments. Results are unpredictable.

Cryolipolysis (Cool Sculpting™)

A non-invasive technique that uses two cooling panels to freeze fat cells, causing them to slowly die and be removed from the body.

Pro: Non-invasive body shaping treatment.

Con: Patients report that the treatment is painful during the procedure and continues to cause discomfort post-treatment. Results are unpredictable.

Mesotherapy (LipoDissolve®)

A non-invasive treatment that employs multiple injections of pharmaceutical and homeopathic medications, plant extracts and vitamins into the fat layer to break up fatty tissue.

Pro: May melt away small areas of fat at the point of injection.

Con: There is no scientific or clinical data to suggest that mesotherapy reduces fat volume and this technique is not FDA approved.
