How It Works

Non-Invasive Ultrasound and Massage Therapy

The two handpieces of the VASER® Shape System work in tandem to treat the target area and promote drainage through the lymphatic system.

Ultrasound Therapy

The VASER Shape System uses low frequency ultrasound energy to treat the fatty tissue layer in a non-invasive manner — no incisions required. Ultrasound energy passes through the skin on the way to the underlying fatty tissue layer. The total amount of energy applied to the skin can be controlled based on patient comfort.

The device uses a dual transducer head that delivers a double beam of overlapping ultrasonic energy at a frequency of 1MHz. The ultrasound beams overlap and treat fatty tissue between 1cm and 5cm below the surface of the skin. This results in both acoustic thermal and acoustic mechanical effects that heat the treatment area and change the characteristics of the underlying fatty tissue matrix.

The ultrasonic energy heats the fatty tissue layer and stimulates the fat cells to release their lipid content. Ultrasound acoustic forces then help push the lipids away from the fat cells and into the lymphatic system.

Zonal Massage

The vacuum handpiece on the VASER Shape System stimulates the lymphatic system to drain away excess toxins and lipids for removal from the body. At the same time, it increases local blood circulation. The zonal massage handpiece can also be used to help open the lymph nodes pre- and post-treatment.

Treatment Time

The average VASER Shape treatment time is about 30 to 45 minutes per body area. This includes a complete treatment of ultrasound and massage. Treatments are usually scheduled one week apart. Most patients undergo a regimen of 3 to 5 total treatments.

* The VASER Shape System is FDA cleared for relief of minor muscle aches, pain and muscle spams, temporary improvement in local blood circulation, and temporary reduction in the appearance of cellulite. The VASER Shape System is currently undergoing studies for body contouring and circumferential reduction applications.

A Combination of Therapies

Lymphatic system removes interstitial fluid from tissues throughout the body.

Acoustic thermal and mechanical effects heat the treatment area and stimulate the fat cells to release their lipid content.

Zonal Massage encourages the lymphatic system to drain away excess toxins and lipids for removal from the body and increases local blood circluation.
